(SLIQ) | On The Set: SLIQ Ad Campaign

Back in February, the 2(x)ist team and its creative crew gathered to shoot the 2(x)ist SLIQ ad campaign, which has since exploded globally. Today, 2(x)istence is happy to (finally!) be able to share these On The Set shots and give insight to putting together the imagery of SLIQ.

Upon casting model André Ziehe as the frontman of 2(x)ist, it was instantly apparent that the Brazilian embodied all that is “SLIQ.” Alluring and confident, but also kind and incessantly modest, André kept trying to convince the team that his is just an “ordinary” face. Nice try, considering his body of work is now plastered across billboards, international magazines, and catwalks the world over.

9 a.m.: The day starts early in the chair, as groomer Joey Healy touches up André’s hair and applies a bit of make up to even out his appearance under photographer Roger Moenks‘ lights. Below, André hangs out in his robe as the lights are adjusted.

Back in the dressing room, all the to-be-shot samples of SLIQ, including the Brief, Y-Back Thong, and Trunk, are arranged by style and color.

Finally ready on set, André changes into one of his first looks — a SLIQ Deep V-Neck Muscle and matching SLIQ Sport Brief in White — whilst Joey applies his secret concoction of body oil.

Photographer Roger snaps up André in the SLIQ Sport Brief. Inside, the studio’s heating wasn’t fully working, so the crew brought in space heaters to warm up the set. Meanwhile, the ever-professional André kept toasty (despite being just in his briefs) by keeping on his socks and sandals. No worries, the shots will be later cropped.

In between changes, the creative team asked André to take self-pictures with a point-and-shoot camera, as well as with a laptop cam. Later, these were pieced together with on-set HD footage to create the viral video advert “2(x)ist SLIQ: Watching.”

The day continued onward with a variety of underwear changes, including the SLIQ Brief below, and set-ups.

Towards the end of the long day, the team could relax, knowing that Roger had snapped more than enough shots to create an amazing campaign. With music blasting throughout the studio (a motley mix of Miike Snow, Phoenix, ’80s dance pop, and old school Hip Hop), the crew started getting punchy and chatty. Topic du jour? The blustery February weather. But while the native New Yorkers were not amused, André grew wide-eyed with excitement upon hearing of the impending blizzard (which eventually dumped 18 inches!). For the Brazilian, it was his first snowfall ever, so what a fitting start to the eventually storm he was about to cause as 2(x)ist’s newest star model.

And the final product …

All week on the Official 2(x)ist Facebook Wall, photographer Joseph Smileuske is sharing his editorial shots of SLIQ, worn by sultry Brazilian Fabrizzio. After seeing the images online, the very happy New York-based snapper took the time to write us an amazing e-mail, exclaiming: “”Well, I’m glad you do like them … this just made my day!” Funny, judging by the reaction to Fabrizzio in SLIQ, 2(x)istence thinks Mr. S made many a fan’s day himself.

Each year, Macy’s hosts a fashion fundraising extravaganza to celebrate the fall season, and once again, 2(x)ist was honored to take part in the national retailer’s Macy’s Passport Presents Glamorama. Traversing through four cities including Minneapolis, Chicago, Los Angeles (shown here), and finally San Francisco, the fashion show/party benefits causes including the Children’s Cancer Research Fund, Ronald McDonald House, and local HIV/AIDS-related charities.

Presenting the best of the Fall/Winter2010 season, it was no surprise that Macy’s included the new 2(x)ist SLIQ range. Parading down the runway to hypnotic, bass-thumping beats, the models set the stage for a fallen angel showdown, which no doubt incited the inner devils in the crowd. As always, the sexy men of 2(x)ist brought down the house, inducing ear-shattering hoots and hollers inside the Los Angeles’ Orpheum Theater. Congratulations to Macy’s for a job well done for some very worthy causes!
